Some china trip photos

One of the countless towers in hong kong. Surprisingly, 40% of Hong Kong land is reserved as national parks.

I was quite surprised to find many DBS outlets in hong kong.

Me and popo.

Some ducks hanging from the ceiling in a small restaurant.

My distant nephews and my mum.

Some village near guang zhou. My grandfather's hometown.

Rural sunrise. I'm not sure if its mist or smog.

The cutest things I've ever seen.

Zhaoqing aka. little Guilin.

Rukia hiding in the shade behind a drinks stall.

Sporty looking KIA spectra.

Pigs. Hairless creatures.

Dilapidated table tennis table.

6-story bungalow built by my distant cousin.

Chairman Mao watching us while we were having lunch.

Narrow streets in grandma's hometown.

Ma and Ba.

Old ancestor's house.

Beautiful, newly constructed highway.

China and back

Unlike some of my previous trips to China, I was actually eager to embark on this one. Mostly I wanted to see how China had changed over the past 10 years or so and have a look for myself what all the fuss was about. During my 7 days or so in China, I must say some things have changed for the better. But some things remain the same. All in all it was a fruitful trip, though the rewards were more intangible. I told some friends that I didn't manage to have dim sum in Hong Kong. The standard response was a look of shock and disdain and a general agreement that I didn't really go to hong kong at all. I agree whole-heartedly. That's why I think I will be back in Hong Kong, sooner rather than later. I did take some photos here and there, nothing spectacular. To me, the highlight of the trip was the visit to my grandma's hometown and seeing all my distant relatives. We're quite a small bunch here in Singapore, my family. It was nice to see the whole extended family gathered in one house with all their noisy little kids. Not something I will experience in Singapore for at least another 5 - 6 years I expect. Unless someone gets married really soon... I think I'll just post some photos after this. Overall it was a good trip. It was a good break from doing nothing in Singapore too. Actually slept better in the hotel room than at home.
